Racin' in Cochran tonight!

Brian's been working on the car ALL day - and most of last night! He was able to fit in a much-needed practice last night in Dublin at 441 Speedway, so special thanks to the fine folks there! Anyway, the car still hasn't been set on scales so it's not quite right but he's still racing tonight in Dublin at the 441 Speedway. OK folks, fair warning....we will be racing at 441 Speedway in Dublin on Saturday June 19th. For more info on track go to http://www.441speedway.com/. According to the track website:

Admission
PIT: Adult $20, Child $10
Grandstand: Adult $10, Child $5
Family Pit Pkg: $50 (2 Adult/2 Child 14 & under)
All children 5 and under are free
Gate opens at 4:00 pm
Racing begins at 7:00

We really suggest coming into the pits 'cause that's where the magic happens!

We plan to have a big crowd that night with Brian's Mama and Sister and several other close friends already pledging their support. It will also be your first chance to buy a cool Quick Whits Racing Team t-shirt to wear to show your support! Whether you buy a shirt or not we'd still love to have you.

Oh, FYI...........the track allows coolers with your choice of food and beverage (adult or juice box, you make the call!). I am hoping that this may finally be the race where we can break out the grill and cook something!

Well, we finally did it....we went out and designed a t-shirt for our race team! You gotta pick one up and wear it to the track to show your support! We are going top print them in Men's Large and XL as well as Women's Large and XL. I can even get them in kid's sizes to (just check out Sam "Flywheel" Whitley and Brice "Lug Nut" Whitley the next time your at the track)!

4th race of my young career - June 5th at 441 Speedway in Dublin, GA

Ok, I know.......it's been a couple of months since we last posted but after that race on April 10th I needed a break. The car was junk that night! It was so loose that I spun out at least 5 times which promptly caused the Flag Man to black flag me. But I was glad because it is really frustrating trying to drive a car that you do not trust to make it out of the corners! So, I put the car on the shelf until we had the money for the new parts to make it better!. Well, we were finally able to get the parts we needed this past Friday! I bought a new right rear spring and spent most of Saturday morning working on my car ans well as Samuel (Fat Jack, Jr) Warren's Bomber car. After working most of the day on both cars we finally loaded up and headed to the track. Of course it started poring down rain and we thought we'd get rained out. But God must be a race fan too because the rain soon stopped and we were in action. I drew #2 position for the heat race but since the rains caused such a delay they cancelled the heat races and that meant that I would start on the outside pole (YIKES!) in the Feature. That was my first time starting so far up front and let me tell ya, it is a different ballgame up there. The folks behind you will do whatever it takes to get up front.....including running you over and putting you in the wall under the flag stand like they did to me! But that is just racing and I'd have probably done the same thing to be honest with ya! I got my position back on outside pole due to someone else causing the caution and I made it pay off because two laps later I passed the leader and DAMN..............I was up front with no cars in sight. But alas, a caution came out before I could make it back to the flag stand so back to second I went. Single file restart this time and I was drivin' it hard to stay with the leader. In fact I drove it so hard into 3 & 4 that I spun out and every last damn car passed me so I had to restart in last. Oh well, it was fun being up front while it lasted but I certainly plan to make a return trip to the front real soon! Although at the back of the field I held my own and hung with the pack, I even passed a car coming out of turn 4 to cross the finish line. All in all I was very happy with the car. That new spring did the trick! I finished 16 out of 21. I am ready for the next race!!!!

NEWS FLASH!!!! Racing this Saturday night!!!

OK, after fixing all the damage from 2 weeks ago we are finally ready to put the 33 car back on the track. Look for us Saturday night at the 441 Speedway in Dublin. If you need information about the track just go to http://www.441speedway.com. We suggest joining us in the Pits but General Admission is cool too!

First race at 441 Speedway

Brian second race - ever - was fun but didn't end the way we wanted it to. He qualified ok and was definitley holding his own in the Feature. Then, he spun out and did a little "bumpin". Once he got it going again his right front tire got clipped by another car, causing a blow-out and cutting the night short. It was lots of fun having our friends (and #1 fans) Lindsey & Keith there to experience a dirt track race.

He's doin' it! Brian's been dreaming (literally) about this for a while now and it's finally happening. It was a struggle to get this car ready for the 2009 season but with a lot of help from some dedicated folks we did it and got to run one of the last races of the season at Cochran Motor Speedway. He didn't finish first but he dang sure didn't finish last either! He was "in the money" man! Making back his entry fee was enough to make me real darn proud. Here are a few pictures from that race. There'll be more to come!
